About Us

Pelham Cares: Neighbor to Neighbor started as a campaign led by the Junior League of Pelham, working in partnership with Pelham Together, the Pelham Civic Association, and the Pelham Chamber of Commerce. The campaign raised over $45,000 to purchase meals and essentials from Pelham community businesses and deliver them directly to those impacted by and working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. See here for more information on that initial effort.

Based on the incredible response to the campaign, the coalition continued to look for ways to harness the momentum of Pelham Cares to meet the needs of our local community. The focus shifted to identifying and meaningfully reaching families that are disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our neighboring communities in lower Westchester and Yonkers contain within them tremendous diversity of lifestyle, culture, and heritage. By reaching across this diversity to understand different stories and needs, Pelham Cares hopes to strengthen our collective capacity to flourish.

This new Pelham Cares effort focuses on these relationships that form a community and seeks to deepen and diversify those relationships among residents of Pelham and its neighboring communities. While this program has been inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is not limited to the crisis. Rather, this time has highlighted the importance of relationships. Now is the time to lean into our existing connections and build new ones for a more vibrant, engaged and socially aware community in the future.
