Join Pelham Art Center for a free Live Lecture & Demo with acclaimed artist and ethnographer Sofika Zielyk on the Pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg) Tradition. Created using the batik wax-resistance technique, the Ukrainian Easter egg or pysanka (from the word “pysaty” or “to write”) was believed to possess enormous power. In the gallery, Sofika will lead the audience in a lecture and demonstration on this rich Ukrainian tradition and the history behind it.
